The Ballarat Wildcats Basketball Club was founded in 1945, making it the oldest standalone club in Ballarat. They are an integral part of the Ballarat community, and run by volunteers. Their teams participate in the Ballarat Basketball Association in all age groups – from U8s to Senior teams.
The club collects money throughout the season for things such as registration, game payments and uniforms. Payments used to be collected via cash. This was time intensive and presented risks to volunteers having to hold and deposit cash. It was also inconvenient for coaches and families having to worry about bringing cash to their games. COVID prompted the club to look at their processes and how they could go cashless.
Since using Teammo, payment collection has increased from 80% to 99.8%
At the start of COVID, it was apparent that the club needed to change their processes for when basketball returned. The club came across Teammo and got in touch to understand how they could transition to online payments.
The club has been using Teammo since the start of 2021. Using Teammo has enabled the club to go cashless, and provided greater convenience to parents and volunteers. Teammo is used to manage the collection of registration, game payments and uniforms.
Using Teammo, the club is able to send payment request instalments throughout the season. This flexibility enables the club to support families and ease any financial stress.
Moving away from cash has created greater convenience for families. Instead of needing to give cash to the club, they simply receive an SMS from Teammo when a payment is required. The first payment via Teammo is made using the link provided. All consecutive payments are paid by responding to the SMS sent.

Prior to Teammo, around 80% of payments owed were collected. This has now increased to 99.8% with the use of Teammo. The impact of this is that volunteers are no longer out-of-pocket, less time is spent chasing up money, and the club has the funds needed to operate and grow.
Club Treasurer, Karen, has the tools and information she needs to manage payments efficiently. She can track who has paid, and who hasn't. If SMS reminders need to be sent, she can manage this from the club's Teammo account. When it comes to reconciling payments and reporting to the committee, Teammo has all the data required to make this a straightforward process.

How did the Ballarat Wildcats get started with Teammo? They did a trial with some families across the club to get feedback on the process. Families found it simple to make payments via Teammo, and they haven't looked back.
